How are impacts calculated?

An impact, in short, is the smallest quantified unit that we can break down a project into. We take the total cost of the project (e.g. building a well, reforesting an area, building a school), and divide by the number of people it can serve as well as the total years it can last, to derive the giving impact.

For example, it costs $5000 to build a well for a village. That well lasts for 5 years and serves 240 villagers. $5000 / 5 years / 240 villagers = $0.01 to provide one day of clean water for one person.
